Despite having worked in media for about six years now and met more celebrities than I could name, I can count on the fingers of one hand the times I’ve been starstruck. One would be when I was super into Glee and saw Mark Salling just standing around in an airport on Christmas Day. Another would be sitting a scant two or three meters away and staring creepily as Lea Salonga sang John Lennon’s “Imagine” at an event. New on my list is meeting Tessa Dare, whose books I discovered a year or two back. A cab ride discussion on her books and books of the same ilk sparked a reader soul searching session for me that led me to a better understanding of why I like to read what I like to read.
Then yesterday I got to meet Tessa Dare in the flesh! And she was beautiful and totally together, which brought out all my awkwardness (and highlighted by the fact that I was pretty sleepless from working two jobs and organizing #MoreLoveInPH this weekend). But she was great, told my husband (whom I’d roped into going to the interview with me to serve as my camera man) and me we were “so cute” and gave me such a whopping awesome interview I took more time than I was given, and I still didn’t want it to end!
I was hoping to get the video out in time for her 3PM book signing event at PowerBooks in Greenbelt Makati, but sadly, the internet didn’t want to cooperate (it took me about five hours to upload this video). Still, if you missed the signing or you went and are still on a Tessa Dare high, give it a watch! You’ll learn so much!
All I can say is, thank god I was able to cut out the most terribly awkward parts, which my husband is still teasing me about!
Here’s a list of Tessa’s books for you to check out. Many of these are available at National Book Store and PowerBooks, and we know for sure that the two books in the Castles Ever After trilogy are available from both stores. The rest, you can get online.
